Famous Indian craft

Kathputli is a traditional string puppet craft of Rajasthan, India, made from wood, cloth, and colorful decorations. The word Kathputli comes from “kath” meaning wood and “putli” meaning doll. It is one of the oldest forms of puppetry in India and is mainly practiced by the Bhat community. These puppets are brightly painted with expressive faces and dressed in traditional Rajasthani costumes. Kathputli puppets are used to tell folk tales, historical stories, and mythological legends through music, dance, and narration.
